Sulle rime giovanili di Giovanni Filoteo Achillini: primi appunti per un’edizione

Synopsis

The poet Giovanni Filoteo Achillini, from Bologna, already known for the Collettanee in morte by Serafino Aquilano (1504), for the Viridario (1513), and for the Fidele (of uncertain date), has also left us a canzoniere handed down by the ms. Acquisti e Doni 397 (Firenze, Biblioteca Medicea Laurenziana), discovered by scholars in relatively recent times and dedicated to Costanza, the inspiring muse of all his literary activity. The contribution offers a first overview of the main questions posed by the tradition with a view to a forthcoming edition. Two issues, in particular, will be addressed: that of the authorship of the codex, the dossier of which is enriched to-day with new testimony, also useful for better focusing on the poet’s rela-tionship with one of his reference authors, the Dante of the Comedy; and the variantistic work carried out by the author both on the collection as a whole and on the texts he featured again in the Viridario and the Fidele.
