Synopsis

The monetary production of Charles of Habsburg in Sardinia was not uniform; on the one hand, the mint of Cagliari acted as the central mint, while on the other, Alghero and Sassari were more responsive to the dynamics of the local communities. After presenting all the coins struck by the Sovereign on the island, the paper examines an unpublished mezzo minuto, issued by the Sassari mint to meet the needs of small trade, similar to that of Alghero.
