I luoghi dell'eresia (e due falcastri...)
Synopsis
The essay finds out the places still existing, or only in part visible, relating to the killing of the inquisitor Peter of Verona in 1252, such as the square of Giussano, the wood of Farga, the castle of Gattedo or more recent ones as the monastery of Meda or the shrine of sainct Peter martyr in Seveso where the falcastrum – the murder weapon used by Carino of Balsamo – is kept. Actually, it does exists another falcastrum, strangely enough also ascribed to Carino, and kept in Forlì. This second one has been pretty neglected by the scholars that cannot comprehend the survival of two instruments of martyrdom which both became objects of devotion also in the iconography that, in both cases, shows important references such as in Lorenzo Lotto, Gentile of Fabriano, Beato Angelico, Carlo Crivelli, Giovanni Bellini.
