«Magnae dies laetitiae»: i canti delle memorie liturgiche di san Pietro martire

The canonization of a new saint involves the creation of the liturgical formularies to be used for the celebration of his memory in the liturgies of the mass and office. The paper examines the main peculiarities of the texts and of their chants for the feasts of the dies natalis and the translatio, paying particular attention to their reception in the liturgical sources as well as to the persistence of the memory and devotion to Peter of Verona until the early modern era as witnessed by the composition of various new texts.
