L’emersione del caso “Comfort women” negli anni Novanta, tra rivendicazione organizzata e negazionismo
Synopsis
The “military comfort women” were girls and women victims of human trafficking and sexual slavery in the Japanese Empire war zones between 1932 and 1945. This chapter traces the evolution of the “comfort women” narrative in the Japanese media in the long postwar period. War memoirs, popular tabloids' articles, and reportages not yet discussed in Italy will be considered. The aim is to reconstruct the context and the origins of the historiographical studies on the “comfort women” in the 1990's, when a proper historical awareness on the subject was still missing, and negationist positions were attracting widespread attention.
