Theatre Studies and the Ancient World
Synopsis
In the field of theatre studies, the attention to the spectacle in the ancient world has a partial research tradition compared to other periods, especially considering the role that ancient theatrical germs play in Western cultural and theatrical tradition. To fill this gap, it is necessary to reformulate some connections and propose methodological hypotheses that allow scholars, whether classicists or performance studies experts, to delve more effectively into a subject that has only recently begun to be studied according to more fitting taxonomies.
