Synopsis

This paper aims to explore the relationship between actor and spectator outside the conventional theatrical context, questioning the tension that arises between the extra-ordinary practices of theatre and the space of reality. The analysis adopts a unified and systemic perspective on the relationship between actor, spectator and environment and the case study is the Festa del Teatro Eco Logico in Stromboli, now in its tenth edition. This theatrical model dispenses with any technical equipment (lighting/audio), where the spatial dramaturgy underlying the choices of the artistic direction becomes a practice of dimensioning and orientation, based on the principles of scenic practice and, in particular, theatrical improvisation. This approach is at the crossroads of theatre and cognitive sciences, taking into account the most recent disciplines of aesthetics, new phenomenology and atmospherology. The collection of works presented in a given context frees the spectator from the constraints, conditioning and automatisms of everyday life. Reflecting on the Festa becomes a potential key to revisiting the fundamental reasons behind certain movements that periodically draw attention to the relationship between theatre and space. The recognition of the environment and its intrinsic potential becomes the essential premise for returning to action, recovering the foundations of the creative act and its vital space.
