In the wake of the Third Theatre in Sicily: Archives, Memories, and Narratives

The research project Prin pnrr For an investigation of the material and immaterial heritage of the Third Theater in Sicily. The talking archives of the Piccolo Teatro of Catania (Gianni Salvo Fund) and the Teatro Libero of Palermo aims to preserve and disseminate the memory of the international phenomenon of the Third Theater in Sicily through the extensive documentation preserved in the theatrical archives of two Sicilian realities which, since the years of their foundation, have been listening to the phenomenon, demonstrating a strong vocation for research and experimentation: the Teatro Libero of Palermo and the Piccolo Teatro of Catania (Gianni Salvo Fund). The contribution tries to return the first outcomes of the work of census and mapping of the Third Theater realities present in Sicily carried out thanks to the consultation of archival documents, the administration of an informative questionnaire in electronic format and the collection of oral sources through the interview technique to verify the presence or absence of groups that are still active and the analysis of their influence on the scenic practices of contemporary theater.
