Author Biographies

Silvia Salini, University of Milan

is Full Professor of Statistics at the Department of Economics, Management and Quantitative Methods, University of Milan. She is involved in the research activities of the DSRS (Data Science Research Centre) at the University of Milan. She is a member of the Academic Senate of the University of Milan, she is a quality referee for the Department of Economics, Management and Quantitative Methods and for the degree course in Data Science and Economics, for which she was President of the teaching board from 2018 to 2024. She has participated in numerous national and international research projects in different fields; her main research interests focus on statistical models for the social sciences, multivariate statistics, statistical learning methods, robust statistics and scientometrics. Over the years, she has worked on topics related to education and tertiary education. She is on the board of the Milan Higher Education Observatory (MHEO) project (https://mheo.unimi.it/). 

Mario Mezzanzanica, University of Milano-Bicocca

is full professor of Information Processing Systems at the University of Milano-Bicocca. Since October 2019 he has been Pro-Rector for Higher Education and Job Placement and from October 2018 to September 2024 he was Director of the Department of Statistics and Quantitative Methods. His research activity focuses on data processing and analysis for decision support through the use of Business Intelligence, Big Data and Artificial Intelligence methodologies and techniques, mainly applied to the domains of labour market, education and training. He has published more than 100 scientific articles in journals, books and conference proceedings and coordinated numerous research projects, both nationally and internationally. He has participated in technical and scientific committees at public and private institutions. Since 2005, he has been the scientific director of the research centre CRISP (Research Centre for Public Utilities).
