Synopsis

The COVID-19 pandemic has had an unprecedented discursive prominence and has colonised many discourses, in distinct fields of knowledge, in social interactions and in all forms of communication.  This volume examines pandemic discourse in Italy, Spain and England, with a focus on institutional and press communication, without neglecting the historical perspective. Through a linguistic-discursive approach in which quantitative analysis is combined with qualitative reflections, the volume retraces some of the stages of the communicative processes that accompanied the spread of the recent pandemic and intends to highlight some of the most relevant phenomena of today's increasingly varied and polyphonic communication space.
