This map of the places of the Resistance and Liberation in Milan was created with the aim of restoring an overall vision of the anti-fascist struggle and
of the violence perpetrated by the Nazi-Fascist occupation and total war between July 1943 and April 1945.
On the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Liberation, 80 places have been symbolically identified, divided into seven categories:
- REPUBBLICA SOCIALE ITALIANA
- GERMANY
- BOMBINGS
- PERSECUTION AND DEPORTATIONS
- REPRESENTATIONS
- RESISTANCE AND PARTISANS
- INSURRECTION
In the selection, priority was given to places that conveyed the collective dimension of the events and their impact on the city.
The map, in its pdf and interactive versions, is therefore proposed as an accessible orientation tool, capable of connecting the past to the present and making it clear how the city still bears innumerable signs of the events that led to the Liberation from Nazi-Fascism and the birth of a free and democratic Italy.
