Synopsis

This textbook has been used by the author for many years
in his class of Mathematical Methods of Physics. It covers
several topics that are considered necessary for the training
of physicists. Group theory and differential equations are
covered in specific courses. Its main features are the style,
less formal than mathematics texts, and the presence of
numerous examples from the field of physics.

Author Biography

Luca Guido Molinari, University of Milan, Italy

is senior associate professor at the Physics Department Aldo Pontremoli of the Università degli Studi di Milano. He teaches mathematical methods for physics and quantum theory of many-particle systems. His main research interests are in random matrix theory, the theory of many-particle systems, general relativity. Since 1972 he volunteers and now is president of the Astronomical Society G. V. Schiaparelli and Centro Geofisico Prealpino, Varese, devoted to the popularization of astronomy and natural sciences, and meteorological forecasting  (https://www.astrogeo.va.it).
