Catalogo della biblioteca di Gian Vincenzo Pinelli: Le edizioni a stampa. Volume I (A-B)
Keywords:
Gian Vincenzo Pinelli, Private libraries, Book history, Ambrosiana Library in MilanSynopsis
The aim of this publication is to reconstruct the collection of printed books owned by Gian Vincenzo Pinelli, an exceptionally large library comprising approximately 9,500 items. Owing to a series of historical vicissitudes that resulted in its destruction or dispersal, the library presented here constitutes a virtual reconstruction, based on a range of documentary sources. In most cases, these sources make it possible to identify not only the works themselves but also the specific editions owned by Pinelli. The publication is therefore organized as a series of entries arranged in alphabetical order by the author’s surname (or by title in the case of anonymous or collective works), each corresponding to a single bibliographic unit. Each entry includes the sources through which the item was identified, the edition to which it is attributed, and, where available, information concerning the circumstances under which the item entered Pinelli’s library.
