Privacy Statement
MilanoUP is operated in accordance with the data-protection standards established by law, including the GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation) promulgated by the European Union in terms of “rights of data subjects”, which include: (a) notice of breach; (b) right of access; (c) right to be forgotten; (d) data portability; and (e) privacy by design.
The GDPR recognises the “public interest in data availability”, which is particularly significant for all those engaged in ensuring, with the utmost integrity, public visibility of scientific-research findings.
Personal data on the platform’s registered users and guests is collected solely for the purpose of ensuring standard functionality of all scientific publications subject to peer review. Consequently, only the information strictly necessary for review and publication, and as needed to advise the public of the work’s authorship and the editing process of the content, to identify (on an aggregate and anonymous basis) reader preferences for individual articles, as well as to determine their country or geographic location, will be collected. These are used exclusively for purposes of scientific communication.
MilanoUP uses data solely for the purpose of managing workflows and to improve the formal quality of the text. Data may be shared with OMP (PKP) developers on an anonymous and aggregate basis, with the exception of publication, consultation, and download statistics on shared content. Data will not be used, whether by the editorial staff, the publisher, or PKP, for marketing purposes, or for reasons other than those stated.
