Synopsis

This miscellaneous volume is dedicated to Stefano Maggi, full professor of Classical Archaeology at the University of Pavia, on the occasion of his retirement. The collection comprises contributions from colleagues, collaborators and students who wish to pay tribute to his research and teaching activity. The contributions encompass a broad array of subjects, ranging from statuary to urbanism, from Cisalpine archaeology to the history of studies, and from didactics to heritage communication. These diverse themes reflect the extensive and multidisciplinary nature of the honoree's scholarly pursuits.
The work not only celebrates Professor Maggi’s scientific and didactic activity, but also offers new perspectives on known and previously unpublished contexts, emphasising multidisciplinary approaches and up-to-date reinterpretations of archaeological data. Furthermore, it confirms the value of shared research and dialogue between generations of scholars.

Author Biographies

Manuela Battaglia, Università di Pavia

is currently a Research Fellow at the University of Pavia, where she obtained her PhD in History. Her main area of interest is the study of the material culture of Northern Etruria and Cisalpine Gaul between the Hellenistic and Early Imperial Age, in particular black glazed ceramic production.

Lorenzo Zamboni, University of Milan

is Associate Professor of Classical Archaeology at the University of Milan. His research covers a broad range of topics, including settlement, material culture, funerary practices, and theoretical aspects related to human presence in Northern Italy from the Late Bronze Age to the Roman period.
